| Courses Available MPM Centre of Excellence will be revamping its courses and as of May 2010 we will be joining the Edexcel awarding body to offer the following courses: (NB: course costs & concessions do apply) EDEXCEL BTEC Level 3 in Music Technology BTEC Level 1 Introductory Diploma in IT @ Work WJEC Functional Skills: English, Maths and ICT Functional Skills are the core elements of English, Mathematics and ICT that provide you with essential knowledge, skills and understanding that will enable you to operate confidently, effectively and independently in life and at work. MPM In The Community This is a new section to MPM Centre of Excellence offering you the opportunity to join one of our 5 week MPM In The Community Workshops WORKSHOP ONE: DEVELOPING YOUR SKILLS - covering the following areas: This workshop is run at one day a week for 2 hours a day. If you want to take part in this workshop the cost is only £75 per person (payment plans can be arranged with the tutor). WORKSHOP TWO: MUSIC SOUND ENGINEER TASTER COURSE - covering the following areas: Learn How To Use MIDI (Cubase) Learn How To Use Audio (Cubase) Basic Recording & Sound Engineering Techniques Basic Overview of Music Industry (contracts, royalties, job roles etc)
This taster workshop is run one day a week at 3 hours per day. During this workshop all learners will have the opportunity to have a minimum of 7 hours practical working time within a commerical recording studio. This is a must for any person wishing to gain valuable experience within a working studio enviroment and also this taster course is a stepping stone onto the BTEC Level 3 Music Tech course! The total cost is only £75 per person (payment arrangment can be arranged with your tutor). So don't delay join TODAY!! Facilities RECREATION Play pool for just 50p per game. Fax— send a fax for just 50p per sheet To use our facilities choose one of the following options: BE A MEMBER - pay an annual fee of £5.00 and then pay only 50p per hour NON-MEMBER - if you choose not to be a member then pay only £1 per hour
So what do our students say? 'Through MPM I have completed the NCFE Level 2 in Counselling Skills course I overcame lack of self confidence and motivation, and became more outgoing and confident. I now work for a local Council and I am now enrolled to complete a Diploma in Counselling. I never would have believed that I would be here now if I hadn't been in contact and studied at MPM. The atmosphere is great, they have a drinks machine and pool room that helped me relax and also the tutors are great! I initially went to College but I found the environment and tutors unsympathetic to my needs. So I came to MPM Centre of Excellence and found an immediate welcome. I enrolled and successfully passed my Level 1 qualification. I am now enrolling to do Level 2 in IT. The tutors and the learning environment were that good I have recommended that my friend also complete NCFE Level 1 Certificate for IT Users - she is due to start this Easter 2007!' I found it a really good course to complete because I play in an indie rock band and wanted to find out more about how to record and mix music. I enjoyed using the studio equipment and getting hands on experience of using a studio, also I found the expert tuition a great help to me. After completing the course I was fortunate enough to be accepted on a 13-week work experience placement at MPM this was brilliant and got me some great experience which has led to me getting a job as a Music Technology tutor at a local college. Things are looking up for me and I thank MPM for giving me the stepping stone and confidence I needed. (Chris, Darlaston) CLASS OF 2007 CONGRATULATIONS to the Counselling Skills Class of June 2007 who successfully completed the NCFE Level 2 in Counselling Skills course. They did well to achieve this qualification and some have even come back to MPM Centre of Excellence to enrol on to and successfully complete the NCFE Level 1 Certificate for I.T.
